Making sure Canadians can find and get the Influenza vaccine is Toronto-based company EMPOWER health - it has launched a unique website called MyFluShot.ca. Leveraging its national healthcare system navigation technology infrastructure and real-time reporting, MyFluShot.ca will help Canadians Locate available Flu shots in their communities.
Already, healthcare professionals are advising Canadians to "get the flu shot!" In what has already been a record setting year for sickness around the World, infectious disease experts are warning of the potential for what some are calling a "Twindemic" - a swell of people becoming ill as influenza and COVID-19 circulate at the same time.
In anticipation of increased demand, the Government of Canada together with the provinces and territories have collectively ordered 22 percent more doses of the Influenza vaccine (13.7 million) than last year. But that might not be enough - as the influenza season comes to an end in Australia, officials there are reporting a 35-percent jump in vaccinations.
