The following resources provide an understanding of bundled payments and how they can facilitate the integration of care between hospitals and community that provides a better experience for patients and better outcomes.
Ontario is one province that is implementing a variety of payment reforms, particularly to institutional providers. Integrated and bundled care is an important component of these reforms. The extent and focus of the implementation of bundled care and payment can vary widely – and there is much that Ontario can learn from the path already taken by early adopters. In this paper, by Jacobs, et.al, the authors outline a number of factors that policy-makers should consider before implementing bundled care and payment.
