Marion Kirsh

Board Member

Marion Kirsh is a Fellow of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario). She is a financial expert, with extensive experience in board governance, strategic planning, risk management, and not-for-profit health care and fundraising. 

Marion is a former director of Mackenzie Health's Board of Directors, governing Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. She served for nine years including on every Board Committee, and chaired the Finance and Audit, and human resources (HR) Committees. Mackenzie Health opened Cortellucci Vaughan in June 2021 as the first new acute care hospital in York Region in over 30 years, with an initial pivot as the Ontario Covid lead, and a $250 million fundraising campaign. 

Marion is a director of FOCUS Accreditation, which provides a quality improvement and accreditation program to Ontario community services agencies. She is Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and HR Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee. Marion is also a former director of Junior Achievement Canada, which delivers programs that help youth build skills in work readiness, financial health and entrepreneurship, and a former member of the Risk Management and Audit, the HR and Compensation, and the Board Affairs Committees.​

Marion volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) for 16 years. She is a former director-at-large of CCS's National Board of Directors and chaired the National Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee. She participated in CCS Research Grant Scientific Review Panels. She chaired the Board of Directors of CCS's Ontario Division. 

Marion retired from the Ontario Securities Commission as Associate Chief Accountant where she addressed Canadian securities regulation, with global accounting, auditing and regulatory bodies, and stakeholders that play an important role in promoting a high-quality framework for financial reporting. She participated in writing OSC's corporate governance policy on gender diversity. Marion worked for RBC Financial Group for 21 years in senior finance leadership roles including CFO Royal Trust/Wealth Management, CFO RBC Insurance, and Chief Accountant. She also held ex-officio CFO roles on several RBC subsidiary boards.​​
