Doreen Armstrong-​Ross 

Board Member

Doreen is the President and CEO of the Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC), including the Dryden Area Family Health Team and Community Mental Health and Addictions Services. The 42-bed facility is a small, rural, and northern hospital supporting the work of more than 300 staff, physicians, nurses, and volunteers. Doreen utilizes innovation, prudent planning, and fiscal responsibility to continually move forward with innovative programming suited to meet patient care needs at the right time and place. As CEO, Doreen has established trusting relationships with community partners and situated DRHC as the healthcare hub in the communities served. Doreen is co-chair of the Dryden and Area Community and Safety Wellbeing Steering Team and the Northwest Region Digital Health Council and was a member of the OHA Pre-Budget Advocacy Advisory Group for the 2023/24 year.

In her 28-year career in health care, Doreen has held increasing roles of responsibility in Quality Improvement and Leadership, including Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Executive for DRHC. Prior to coming to DRHC, Doreen worked in the US Health Care System. She was employed at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis as an RN in the Burn ICU and Clinical Systems Implementation and Management. Doreen was the nursing lead on the team implementing an electronic medical record system from a paper-based system for the 350-bed facility.

These roles have given Doreen a diverse understanding and success in health and patient care management, clinical and instructional nursing, health care policy, procedure and protocol, and electronic systems building and development.

Doreen is registered as a Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, holds an Honours Bachelor of Science - Nursing degree from Lakehead University and a Master of Business Administration - Innovation Specialization degree from the University of Fredericton. Doreen is also a graduate of the Advanced Health Care Leadership Program at Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto and holds a certificate from Cleveland Clinic for the Executive Visitors' Program - Achieving Excellence through System Integration.

Doreen is an active volunteer with many community groups and organizations and serves in many executive and volunteer roles in community sporting groups and school and school board parent groups.  ​​​
