New Government Appointments

Mike Heenan was appointed as the new Assistant Deputy Minster (ADM) for Hospitals and Capital effective July 29, 2019. Mr. Heenan has held a number of senior executive roles in the health care sector, spanning areas such as patient safety and experience, performance measurement and leadership development. 

He took over from Alison Blair, who has been acting ADM. She has continued to serve as Acting ADM for Emergency Health Services, Ministry of Health.

 

 
Marie-Lison was appointed Deputy Minister of Long-Term Care in July 2019. She also continues to serve as the Deputy Minister for Francophone Affairs. Previously, she was the Deputy Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.

 
Marie-Lison has more than 25 years of experience in the Ontario Public Service. Prior to taking on her current roles, she was the Deputy Minister of Francophone Affairs, Deputy Minister of Accessibility and Deputy Minister of Seniors Affairs.


 
Rana Shamoon started as Director of Health Policy in the Premier's Office in September. Previously Rana was the Director of Policy for the Minister of Training Colleges and Universities. Rana held various roles​ in the federal government as well as Senior Policy Advisor at the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

 
She took over from Larissa Smit, who left to take on the role of interim Executive Director at the Kids Health Alliance.

 

 
Harpreet Bassi​

Harpreet Bassi started as Director of Policy to the Minister Health in October. Previously, Harpreet was the Executive Lead, Program Implementation at The Change Foundation. Harpreet has held various roles, including at the Centre for Effective Practice and the Richard Ivey School of Business, International Centre for Health Innovation.

 
She took over from Charles Lammam, who is now Director of Policy to the Minister of Finance.
