In March 2025, St. Joseph’s Care Group (SJCG) was honoured to be a part of the Indigenous Medicine Stories: Anishinaabe mshkiki nwii-dbaaddaan podcast, where the discussion focused on N’doo’owe Binesi, SJCG’s Indigenous Health Division, and the significance of traditional healing in modern health care.
Hosted by Dr. Darrel Manitowabi, Chair in the History of Indigenous Health and Indigenous Traditional Medicine at Northern Ontario School of Medicine University, the podcast featured voices from Ogichidaa Onaakonigewin (Elders Council), the Nanaandawe’ewin Traditional Healing Program, and the Vice President of N’doo’owe Binesi.
The podcast is a unique and powerful opportunity to learn about the deeply rooted traditions of Indigenous healing and its growing integration within the health care system, while also emphasizing the pivotal role of Elders and knowledge keepers in shaping the future of culturally safe and trauma-informed health care.
We invite everyone to listen to the podcast, and that you will join us in acknowledging and thanking the participants who shared their personal experiences and knowledge, offering all of us an opportunity to learn and use that teaching to improve health care for everyone.
