Building on the successful collaboration of the Health System Funding Reform (HSFR) Hospital Advisory Committee (HAC) which included Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and hospital representatives, the HAC has been reconvened under a new name: the Patient-Based Funding (PBF) Hospital Advisory Committee.
The Minister of Health and Long-Term Care has revised its mandate and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year(s). It will continue with a shift to quality and better integrated care for patients, supported by evolving funding methodologies, thereby improving costs, outcomes and patient satisfaction.
HAC on overarching priorities that include:
- Identifying opportunities to improve linkages between quality and funding;
- Developing options to better forecast and fund growth to ensure Ontario has a world class health system for future generations, and;
- Evolving patient-based funding (e.g., review the Health Based Allocation Model, support integrated models of care, etc.), considering the various needs of communities across Ontario.
Four PBF Sub-Committees are being convened to support HAC in meeting its goals. They include:
- Formulae & Tools
- Financial & Clinical Data
- Evidence, Appropriateness & Innovation
- Adoption & Implementation Support
