Ontario Hospitals Connected for Care: eHR Readiness Reports
Hospital CEOs, Board Chairs, CIOs, OHA Board of Directors and CACN Members
From Hilary Short, OHA President and CEO
In early February 2005, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), through the Hospital eHealth Council, launched the Ontario Hospitals Connected for Care: eHR Readiness Survey. The intention of the project, in its inaugural year, was to establish a baseline understanding of Ontario hospitals’ capacity and use of information and communications technology (ICT) resources that will enable us to further advance toward a provincial electronic health record (EHR).
The OHA’s Survey Operations Working Group with assistance from the Praxia/Hay Consulting team has been working diligently over the past several months to collect and validate information from over 90% of participating hospitals. I am pleased to announce that the Ontario Hospitals Connected for Care: eHR Readiness Reports are in the final phase of development and are currently being reviewed by members of the Working Group and Hospital eHealth Council.
In the next few weeks, the Reports will be released to all hospitals that participated in the initiative. Each participating hospital will receive a Summary of the Findings, their individual Peer Group Report and their Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Report.
To assist Members, the OHA is developing an Instruction Sheet that will provide hospitals with their confidential hospital identifier, as well as a set of Q & A’s that will share answers to general, survey methodology and reporting types of questions.
The OHA and the Hospital eHealth Council would like to express its appreciation to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) whose financial support helped make this work possible.
