UPDATE – 2006 Health Care Leadership Summit

The OHA's Health Care Leadership Summit will be held on September 7-8, 2006 at the Grandview Resort in Huntsville. This summit is intended to provide hospital CEOs with an opportunity to dialogue and share perspectives on important issues such as health care integration.

Newly confirmed speakers about health care systems integration include: Per S. Bleikelia, Director General, and Vidar Steine, Director General, Specialized Health Services, Ministry of Health and Care Services, Oslo, Norway; Dr. Penny Ballem, Former Deputy Minister of Health, British Columbia; and Janet Skinner, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health, Government of Alberta.

A thought-provoking “Great Debate” session has also been announced. Senior hospital and health leaders will debate the question: “Should voluntary Boards continue to exist in a LHIN environment?” Debating for the affirmative will be Ron Sapsford, Deputy Minister of Health, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ontario and Barry Monaghan, CEO, Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network. Debating for the negative will be Garry Cardiff, CEO, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Chair, OHA and Ruthe-Anne Conyngham, Past Chair, St. Joseph’s Health Care, London and Chair-Elect, OHA.

Other speakers at the Summit include Hilary Short, President and CEO, OHA; John Ralston Saul, award-winning essayist; Don Drummond, Chief Economist, TD Financial; Dan Donovan, Magna International; Greg Kane, UPS Canada; Peter Lauwers; and Maureen Quigley and John Ronson.
