Speech by Minister George Smitherman
For the Attention of
Hospital Board Chairs, CEOs, OHA Board of Directors and
CACN Members
From Steve Orsini
Vice President - Policy and Public Affairs
Health & Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman is scheduled to make a major speech this coming Thursday September 9th on the Ontario's government’s "plan to transform Medicare". According to a notice issued by the Ministry, the Minister will comment on the state of health care in Ontario, deliver a progress report on the government’s health care agenda and look ahead to changes still to come. OHA will have representation at the speech and will be available to comment publicly, consistent with our stepped-up advocacy efforts. The Minister's speech will be an important discussion item at the next OHA Board meeting on September 15th as well.
The Minister's speech is scheduled to take place on the same day as the OHA Forum for Chief Executive Officers. Arrangements have been made to allow the live broadcast of the Minister's speech to be shown at the forum so members are aware of what the Minister says in his remarks at the same time as they are delivered.
