presented by Ontario Hospital Association

Course name: Rural and Northern Health Care Annual Conference
Course duration: May 21, 2008 - May 23, 2008
Location: Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, 90 Bloor Street East, Toronto
Course code: EP 153

Northern and rural health care providers face a host of challenges and opportunities that are distinctive to improving the health and well-being of people living in northern and rural communities. While striking the right balance for providing effective and quality care is a challenge province-wide, the response of Small, Rural and Northern hospitals continues to be unique. The Rural and Northern Health Care Conference will provide updates on their progress and future agenda.

How is progress being evaluated? What can we learn from rural and northern health care providers that are excelling? Are the essential tools in place to be successful?

Issues to be addressed at this two-day conference include:
  • Core Services Report: Strategizing for the future
  • Health Care Environmental Scan
  • Effective Public Relations and Communications
  • Governance for small hospitals: Strategies to address emerging issues and challenges
  • Alternatives to Physician Care: Innovative strategies to address medical human resource challenges
  • Innovative e-Health Strategies: Effective rural collaboration

This year's conference will be held in Toronto and will be an excellent opportunity for rural and northern health care leaders to network with their peers. We hope you will join in on the fun starting Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the Rogers Centre for a fun filled Toronto Blue Jays baseball game in a private SkyBox and a relaxing Dinner and Waterfront Cruise on Thursday, May 22.

Spouses are welcome to attend the social events at a per event rate, (see registration on the reverse).

For those requiring accommodations, we encourage you to contact the Marriott Bloor Yorkvillle early as hotel rooms for this time period are filling up fast!
