Release of OHA 2006 Election Primer
As you know, Canada’s Liberal Government has dissolved Parliament and called a national election for Monday, January 23 2006.
Health care remains a key public policy issue for Canadians. It is therefore important for both hospitals and patients to understand what the current and emerging issues in the health sector are, and how each party plans to deal with them.
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has prepared this election primer for its Members and the public to use when determining where Canada’s federalist parties stand on the national health policy issues that are important to Ontario’s hospitals and patients. This primer includes:
- Who are we? The OHA and Its Members
- A Taxing Issue – Hospitals and the GST
- Federalist Party Platform Summary
This primer should be considered a public document and can be used by Members as a “leave-behind” when meeting with candidates for election.
This primer is also available at www.oha.com.
If you have any questions about the Election Primer, please contact Chris McPherson, OHA Public Affairs, at 416-205-1305 (email: cmcpherson@oha.com).
