OHA Members Meeting Results

For the Attention of Hospital Board Chairs, CEOs, OHA Board Members and CACN Members
From Tony Dagnone
OHA Board Chair

I am pleased to report that today's special meeting of OHA members was successful. With record attendance, a thoughtful and passionate discussion took place with members strongly supporting OHA's stepped up advocacy plan to inform the public about the potential patient care impact of the $600 million hospital funding shortfall. Hospital trustees spoke eloquently about the funding shortfall and what it will mean to the services that local hospitals provide in communities across Ontario. All three resolutions regarding hospital funding, the interim accountability agreement and Local Health Integration Networks passed with unanimous support. Material from today’s meeting is available on the OHA website.

Tomorrow, the OHA will be holding a press conference in Toronto to begin communicating the patient care challenges facing Ontario hospitals. This is a time of incredible challenge for hospitals and the patients we serve and the decision to communicate publicly on these issues has not been taken lightly. On the contrary, it is one of the most difficult decisions we have ever faced, and your Board deeply appreciates your continued support in the time ahead.
