In response to the expanding scope of the patient safety movement in Ontario, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC), and the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) are pleased to be working collaboratively on a patient safety education initiative for physicians. Engaging physicians and other health care providers in the patient safety agenda by expanding their knowledge of patient safety theories and concepts is one of the most critical steps in achieving a culture of safety that transcends throughout the organization.
Two videoconferences are scheduled. The first, “
Essentials of Disclosure” is being held on April 22, 2008. This second videoconference, entitled “
Communicating well with your patients: Disclosing Adverse Events” will discuss an ethical and practical approach to disclosure using case studies and practical examples.
This event is an
Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by the CMPA for 2 hours.
