“Your Health Care Be Involved”

St. Joseph's Health Centre (SJHC) has prominently displayed the “Your Health Care Be Involved” materials throughout the hospital including banners, posters and pamphlets. SJHC’s Interpreter Services Department identified the top five languages used by our visitors, patients and their families (Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Chinese), and translated materials have also been made widely available, reaching an even larger portion of our diverse populatiaon and demonstrating SJHC’s commitment to its Mission, Vision and Values.

The re-launch of this campaign coincided with Patient Safety Week, which gave us a platform to showcase the campaign materials, not only to our visitors and patients, but to our staff and physicians as well. A number of outpatients told us that they continue to take their 2006 brochures to all of their hospital and physician appointments, and patients said they are happy to see the brochures/pamphlets available in a number of different languages. The campaign materials have been posted on the hospital’s website and continue to draw a high and consistent volume of hits from visitors. The materials are also available on the hospital’s Intranet so staff can access and print items 24-hours a day for patients, from any computer desktop in the hospital.
