Patient Satisfaction

Ontario hospitals have been measuring patient satisfaction for a number of years in order to better understand the experience that patients and their families have with their hospital care. The OHA undertook a leadership role in 1997 to create a standardized approach for Ontario hospitals wishing to survey their patients for quality improvement purposes and to participate in the Hospital Report project (a measure of patient satisfaction is a requirement to participate in Hospital Report).

In addition to addressing Ontario's needs, the OHA has reached out to other jurisdictions in Canada, making the possibility of national participation in standardized surveying a reality.

The following satisfaction questionaires are being administered or are just ready to be routinely offered and or administered in a number of provinces and territories:

  • Adult Acute Care
  • Emergency Department
  • Rehabilitation Care
  • Complex Continuing Care Resident, And Family
  • Ambulatory Oncology

The following questionaires are currently being validated for use in Canada in the near future:

  • Paediatric Acute Care
