Ontario’s “Healthy” Hospitals are Recognized at OHA’s Annual Convention & Exhibition, OHA HealthAchieve2005

Toronto – As part of an initiative to support improved work environments within hospitals, nine Ontario hospitals will receive “Healthy Hospital Innovators Awards” today during OHA HealthAchieve2005, the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA) annual Convention and Exhibition.

“As Ontario’s hospitals face human resource shortages and financial challenges, strategies to support the well-being of our dedicated health care workers have never been more important,” said Hilary Short, President and CEO of the OHA. “This Award recognizes hospitals that have demonstrated a willingness to develop and sustain a healthy workplace, and to share their experiences with other organizations, both within and outside the health care sector.”

The OHA initiated the Healthy Hospital Innovators Award in partnership with the National Quality Institute as part of its larger initiative to develop innovative health human resource strategies. The OHA launched the Healthy Hospital Initiative in January 2002 to enable health care employees to become models of healthy individuals and to assist Ontario’s hospitals in becoming models of healthy workplaces.
