Leadership Development Institute

Fostering health system leadership is a key strategic direction for the OHA.

In the spring of 2007, the OHA launched a process to help develop a leading–edge, accessible and sustainable leadership institute – one that would provide the leadership capacity required for the future of Ontario’s health care system. At that time, both an environmental scan that represented the first phase of the planning for the creation of a health care leadership institute and a plan for implementation were completed.

Through stakeholder consultations, the OHA has been able to implement its Leadership Development Institute (LDI). With a mandate, scope and framework already in place, and guided by the Health Care Leadership Council, the LDI is well underway.

In its fully developed state, the LDI will provide talent management support, deliver leadership development programs, make available resources and supports in areas including assessment, mentoring, coaching, secondments/leadership exchanges, research and tools and conferences and networking opportunities.

A variety of background information about the LDI is available, including the program framework and reports from our needs assessments. Please click on the links below for progress reports of initiatives with the LDI.
