Yesterday, the Toronto Star printed an opinion editorial I submitted about e-Health. You can link to the article by

I tried to make four points in the article.
First, we cannot build a 21st century health care system without first creating a comprehensive, integrated e-Health system.
Second, there are a number of e-Health success stories across Ontario, specifically small and medium-sized projects led by hospitals and CCACs. I believe that “bite-sized” e-Health projects have a number of advantages, including better end-user uptake, and are less likely to bust budgets and calendars.
Third, a “strategic investor” approach to e-Health projects – like that used by Canada Health Infoway – is a good way to ensure funding accountability while driving projects toward completion.
Fourth, while we recognize that Canadian governments are facing significant economic challenges, slowing or stopping investments in e-Health would be a mistake.
Incidentally, Newt Gingrich, the former US political leader and current, energetic e-Health advocate, made almost identical points to these during his excellent presentation at HealthAchieve 2009.
I hope you enjoy my article.
