After four years and over 50 blogs, I will be stepping down on January 13th from my role as President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA). I feel honored to have had the opportunity to communicate with you and lead the OHA through a period of significant change for hospitals and the health care system.
The blog gave me a chance to share with you the interesting evidence and perspectives of the OHA and others. As I look back over the entries, there is a wealth of ideas on how to improve the health system. All we have to do is implement them!
As you may know, the OHA has appointed Mark Rochon as Interim President and CEO, following my departure, and until the permanent appointment is made by the Board of Directors. The Board is very pleased that Mark has agreed to lead the OHA through this interim period due to his stature in health care, as well as his previous involvement in and support of the OHA.
I have done my best to merit having this role and I have enjoyed it immensely. I am stepping down rather than retiring so I hope that I will have a chance to work with some of you in other capacities in the time ahead. I can be reached in future at tclosson@sympatico.ca.
Best wishes!
Tom
