TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and Ontario’s hospitals welcome today’s release of Public Services for Ontarians: A Path to Sustainability and Excellence, by the Commission on the Reform of Ontario’s Public Services.

The OHA agrees that moving forward to address the province’s financial challenges requires significant change. We also know that any solutions to address health care spending must bring lasting results and be guided by what is in the very best interest of patients.

Overall, the OHA and its member hospitals welcome the perspective that Mr. Drummond brings to the broader public sector and intend to review the report and its recommendations carefully.

“We are especially encouraged by recommendations aimed at system-wide enhancements to patient care,” says the OHA’s Interim President and CEO, Mark Rochon.

The OHA and Ontario’s hospitals recognize that the Commission’s report is intended as advice for the government and believe that careful and effective implementation of any recommendations will be key. The OHA will do its part to work with the government and other health system providers to help inform implementation decisions and ensure that high quality patient care remains the foremost goal of Ontario’s health system.
