OHA Welcomes Wait Times Reporting Initiatives

June 17, 2010

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) applauds the work of the Ontario Wait Times Strategy, particularly the recent expansion of the Ontario Wait Times website to include new surgical service areas and an easier-to-navigate design, which were shared earlier today.

“Expanding the Wait Times Strategy will give hospitals and health system planners further data to help them accurately determine the factors that influence wait times and allow them to respond accordingly,” said Tom Closson, OHA President and CEO.

In addition, the newly redesigned, easy-to-use website will mean that Ontario patients and taxpayers have better access to timely information about wait times – an important accountability measure and something the OHA strongly supports.

Ontario’s hospitals have a long and demonstrated history of embracing accountability and transparency as part of Ontario’s public hospital system, and this expansion of Ontario’s Wait Times Strategy is another positive step in ensuring patients have information about their health care system and access to high quality care.
