Toronto, ON – Ontarians deserve to know how their local hospitals are performing, and that is why the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has created myhospitalcare.ca – a new website promoting better public access to hospital performance information that’s easy-to-understand and navigate.

“Ontarians rarely access existing hospital performance information and when they do, they often find it very technical and difficult to understand, said Tom Closson, OHA President and CEO. “The OHA created myhospitalcare.ca to make hospital performance information both accessible and useful to patients and their families.”

Launched today, myhospitalcare.ca allows users to learn more about how hospitals are performing by location, type of care, or one of 39 different indicators.

“By making the information on myhospitalcare.ca easy for people to access, the OHA is empowering patients while also helping hospitals become even more accountable than they already are,” said Tom Closson, who noted that Ontario hospitals already meet some of the most demanding accountability standards anywhere.

Other health care organizations also support myhospitalcare.ca and its benefits to patients.

“Ontarians, like all Canadians, want to know about the performance of the health care system and the quality and safety of health care, says Glenda Yeates, President and CEO of the Canadian Institute for Health Information. “As an organization committed to public reporting and transparency in health information, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) applauds the Ontario Hospital Association on the launch of this important initiative.”
