Providing Better Access to Information

The OHA believes that the hospital and other health care sectors are best served by making information about hospital performance transparent, understandable and available to both health care providers and patients.

To ensure health care providers and patients are well informed of key activities, the OHA offers the following online resources.

A Look at How Hospitals Are Performing

As part of its vision for a sustainable health care system, the OHA has created myhospitalcare.ca – a dependable resource which allows patients to easily view performance data from Ontario’s hospitals, helping patients make informed health care decisions.

A Handy Reference of Health Care Facts and Figures

Updated on a regular basis, healthsystemfacts.com provides a variety of key facts and figures about health care in Ontario and beyond.

Promoting Patient Education and Empowerment

The OHA has supported the development and implementation of innovative programs to provide Ontario hospitals with tools, strategies, and education for improving patient safety. Through initiatives like Your Health Care – Be Involved and Clean Hands Protect Lives, the OHA is shaping the future of the health care by empowering patients, and advocating for improvements in quality of health care.

Supporting Accountability and Quality Improvement
With the passage of Bill 46, The Excellent Care for All Act on June 8, 2010, the OHA has developed a range of resources and tools – available at www.oha.com/bill46.com –  to support hospitals with implementing changes made necessary by the new legislation.

Advancing the Adoption of Electronic Health Initiatives

The OHA believes that eHealth is the foundation of a modern, integrated, accessible and sustainable health care system. As part of its commitment to eHealth and its members, the OHA has developed a registry of the eHealth technologies applications in use at Ontario hospitals, and associated benchmarking tools.
