The OHA, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, developed the Surgical Safety Checklist Implementation Toolkit to help hospitals implement the use of surgical safety checklists within their operating rooms and ensure consistency across the province. The Toolkit was designed primarily to improve teamwork and communications in the operating room, thereby enhancing patient care and safety, decreasing complications and deaths from surgery, and increasing operating room efficiency.
