Fostering Health System Leadership

Our Goal: Improve executive and management leadership capacity within the health care sector through a new leadership institute.

  • LDI Business Plan: The OHA's Leadership Development Institute (LDI) presented its Business Plan to the OHA Board of Directors in April 2010 which mainly focuses on the development of the LDI’s Leadership Development Programs. The LDI is now operationalizing this plan, and began the development and delivery of these leadership programs, with a target launch date of Spring/Summer 2011.
  • Coaching Essentials for Leaders Workshops: These workshops were conducted on-site in the Ottawa area; public sessions for workshops including Training-for-Trainers were also offered in Toronto.
  • Integration of Competencies in HR Practice: The LDI offered the first behavior-based interviewing workshops at a number of hospitals, beginning in March 2010.
  • Talent Management: The LDI began working with a number of hospitals to develop their talent management plans, and has been providing talent management consulting support since July 1, 2010.
  • Leadership Competency Models and 360 Surveys: The leadership competency models and 360 degree feedback surveys were completed. Organizations are integrating the competencies into other areas of HR practice, adapting these tools to their work environment (e.g., talent management, performance management, etc.).
  • New Resources for Members:
    • CEO Competency Dictionary;
    • CEO Success Profile Template; and
    • CEO Competency Questionnaire.
