Integrating Nurse Practitioners Across the Continuum of Care
March 29, 2010
Toronto Marriott Eaton Center Hotel
525 Bay Street, Toronto
Health care transformation is taking place right now in Ontario in no small part due to the advanced practice role of Nurse Practitioners. As we move forward with integrating nurse practitioners into our healthcare system, we are still challenged to engage front-line partners, overcome policy barriers and be leaders of the collaboration.
This conference aims to address how this can be done, along with highlighting the advances we are making in NP-led clinics, meeting the ED/ALC challenge, and leading the example for what a patient-centered, flexible, interprofessional model looks like in a real setting.
Topics include:
• The Ministry’s Vision - Policy, Regulatory, Strategic Directions, Vanessa Burkoski, Chief Nursing Officer, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
• Research Findings: Analysis of Integration
• Lessons Learned – NP-led Clinics to date, Liz Baker, National Director, Nurse Practitioner Professional Practice, VON Canada
• Developing a Collaborative Practice Across the Continuum
• Meeting the ED/ALC Challenge: Case Study
• Recruitment and Retention of Nurse Practitioners, Dr. Kimberly Lamarche, Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, Assistant Professor and Manager: Advanced Nursing Practice Program Centre for Nursing and Health Studies, Athabasca University.
