With the support of the Ontario government through the OntarioBuys initiative, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) established the Green Hospital Champion Fund (GHCF) to help Ontario’s hospitals improve their environmental performance and reduce operating costs through implementation of “green” projects.
The GHCF Audit Program
As part of this initiative, the OHA recently launched an audit program focused on identifying opportunities for hospitals and their green champions to improve their fiscal and environmental performance through energy conservation and waste reduction.
The Green Hospital Champion Fund (GHCF) Audit Program would like to thank all applicants for the overwhelming interest in the program. The application period for funding is now closed, and over 90 audits are underway.
Thank you to everyone who applied for the funding opportunity, to the vendors who have supported this program, and our audit program partners at Union Gas Limited and Enbridge Gas Distribution
The GHCF Audit Program offered financial support to hospitals of up to 80% to cover a waste audit, or building on the leading incentive programs of Union Gas Limited and Enbridge Gas Distribution, to cover up to 80% of the cost of an energy assessment.
In addition to assisting hospitals to identify their opportunities for environmentally and fiscally responsible operational improvements, the GHCF Audit Program aims to establish a baseline of Ontario hospitals’ waste and energy performance and share best practices among the health care community. The GHCF Audit Program will be followed by a second program that will build focus on implementation of green projects that will support the reduction of energy use and waste in healthcare facilities.
Any questions or comments about the program should be directed to green@oha.com.
The GHCF would like to thank Union Gas Limited and Enbridge Gas Distribution for supporting Ontario’s hospitals and the GHCF Energy Audit Program through their leading energy incentive programs. GHCF rebates can be combined with Union Gas and Enbridge rebates to cover the cost of up to 80% of the cost of an energy assessment.
