The Ottawa Hospital teams up with OHA to re-launch its Patient Safety Tips Campaign
With the re-launch of OHA’s Your Health Care – Be Involved patient safety tips campaign, The Ottawa Hospital reviewed how it disseminated this important information. The large posters continue to adorn the walls of major corridors and waiting areas. The pamphlet is now included in the Admission package, and the Volunteers agreed to distribute them on a bi-weekly basis to all main waiting areas such as clinics, Emergency Departments and Diagnostic Imaging. Tent cards displaying the five safety tips, will soon be placed on all cafeteria tables. The plan is to repeat this process a few times a year and particularly during Patient Safety Week. An article appeared in the employee newsletter and in the physician newsletter, reminding them of the importance of sharing this information with the patients. A brief article listing the five safety tips also appeared in the hospital’s report to the community. The pamphlet has been posted on the hospital’s web site and intranet. TOH believes that the involvement of patients in their health care will improve patient safety and is proud to support this initiative.
