Toronto - The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) welcomes two new directors, Mark Hurst and Paul Davies, to its Board of Directors.

"We look forward to their participation on our Board over this coming year," said Sheila Jarvis, OHA Board Chair. "Given the pressures currently facing our health care system, we value the skills and expertise that Mark and Paul both bring to their new roles on the Board of Directors."

Mark Hurst is the President and CEO of North Bay General Hospital and joins the OHA Board from the OHA's Northern Ontario Region (Region 1) as a CEO representative. He currently serves on the Northeastern Ontario Medical Education Corporation Board of Directors and is a member of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Teaching Hospital Council, Northeast Mental Health Implementation Task Force and North Bay Community Advisory Committee on the Transfer of Community Mental Health Programs.

Paul Davies is the President and CEO of South Bruce Grey Health Centre and comes to the OHA Board as a small hospitals representative within the OHA’s Southwest Ontario Region (Region 5). Involved with the OHA for several years, he has extensive experience in health care and is currently the Vice Chair of the OHA’s Small Hospitals Provincial Advisory Group.

The OHA Board of Directors governs the affairs of the Association, is accountable to the OHA’s membership, and provides strategic and human resource leadership, education and advocacy on behalf of the hospitals of Ontario. The Board is comprised of 28 members, who are hospital trustees and CEOs who represent the OHA's five regions. Half of these members are hospital Board members, and half are Chief Executive Officers.

"The OHA continues to make great progress towards meeting its strategic goals for the system," said Hilary Short, OHA President and CEO. "Mark and Paul bring tremendous leadership and commitment to their positions which will go a long way in helping our Board further our priorities."
