Introduction of LHIN Legislation - November 23
During a Tuesday, November 22 speech, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care George Smitherman stated that LHIN enabling legislation will be introduced in the Ontario Legislature on Thursday, November 24.
We anticipate that the OHA will provide preliminary public comments on the LHIN legislation following its introduction.
We expect the LHIN legislation to be very complex, and to touch on literally dozens of statutes.
The OHA plans to review the LHIN legislation closely, with a particular focus on the proposed provisions for LHIN governance, funding authority, labour management and transition, and service integration. The OHA will provide an analysis of the legislation to Members following the introduction of the legislation.
