Canadian Patient Safety Week
The Canadian Patient Safety Institute has declared October 20 to 27 as the 2006 Canadian Patient Safety Week (CPSW). The OHA is pleased to be collaborating with the Institute to promote this initiative.
Now in its second year, CPSW 2006 will focus on hand hygiene, and emphasize that cleaning hands well and often is a proven way to reduce the spread of infections in health care settings.
The OHA will be releasing a patient safety initiative booklet, entitled Inspiring Ideas and Celebrating Successes: A Guidebook to Leading Patient Safety Practices in Ontario Hospitals during CPSW. The booklet highlights the great work that Ontario hospitals are doing to make their facilities safer.
Hospitals may wish to participate in this week by highlighting their:
• Patient safety initiatives
• Hand hygiene campaigns
• Involvement in the “Your Health Care – Be Involved” campaign (patient safety tips)
• Contribution to Safer Healthcare Now!
If you have any questions about this Bulletin, the “Your Health Care – Be Involved” campaign or the patient safety booklet, please contact Sudha Kutty, at skutty@oha.com or 416-205-1415.
