C. Difficile Education Package - August 14 - 2008
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has learned that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (Ministry) plans to release hospital C. difficile associated disease (CDAD) reported information on the Ministry website on September 26, 2008, four days sooner than the originally scheduled date of September 30, 2008. Hospitals are encouraged to post their CDAD information on their websites on September 26th in coordination with the Ministry reporting.
The following package of materials contains more information about the date change (including a letter from Dr. Michael Baker - the Ministry's Expert Lead - Patient Safety), as well as some Ministry-developed Q & As, and a copy of the form all CEOs and Board Chairs are required to sign and send back to the Ministry. Please note that the Ministry has extended the deadline to send back the signed form to August 22, 2008 (from August 15th). Hospitals should also note however, that it is the intention of the Ministry to release to the media, the names of hospitals that have and have not returned this signed letter by August 22nd.
