Message from the Chair

As the Chair of the Region 1 Regional Council Executive Committee (RCEC), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Region's section of the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) website. This site will provide you with information about regional activities, such as our Education Conference, Annual Meeting, Region 1 Regional Executive Committee, schedules, members meeting packages, and the Regional Council Terms of Reference. It is our sincere desire that you will take a moment to become familiar with this content.
During January and February of this past year, Tom Closson, President and Chief Executive Officer, OHA, and Peter Johnson, Board Chair, OHA, visited three northern cities as part of their 8 city Member Engagement Tour. These visits provided Tom, Peter, and the OHA staff who accompanied them, first-hand knowledge of the issues we are facing in the north, and how the OHA can continue to address these issues.
The Region 1 RCEC is a 13 member committee made up of Chief Executive Officers and Trustee representatives of the 40 member hospitals of Region 1. The RCEC continues to actively address regional issues identified by our members through our meetings, and by participating in strategic working groups/taskforces and committees of the OHA.
I look forward to working with you to advance Region 1 issues, and to improve the healthcare services we provide to the citizens of Region 1 and Ontario.
