To support the OHA’s members and the strategic direction of the Board of Directors, day-to-day operations of the association are led by President and CEO Pat Campbell and supported by the OHA’s senior management team. In addition to their divisional responsibilities, each senior manager serves as an Executive Lead for each of OHA’s five Regions, providing support and acting as a liaison for regional affairs.
Pat Campbell, President and CEO
Pat Campbell was appointed President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association in June 2012.
She is a health care leader with broad leadership experiences in government and rural, community and academic hospital environments.
Prior to joining the OHA, she served as the first CEO of Echo: Improving Women's Health in Ontario. Her previous leadership roles also include serving as President and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services, a network of six hospitals in a rural region of Southern Ontario, and as President and CEO of Women's College Hospital in Toronto.
Pat has an undergraduate degree in Nursing from the Univesrity of Western Ontario; an MBA from York University; and, has earned her Executive Training for Research Application (EXTRA) Fellowship from the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation.
Her experiences leading hospitals and a provincial health organization give her a deep understanding of the interrrelated issues and opportunities facing hospitals and the wider health system.
Anthony Dale, Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs
Anthony Dale is Vice President of Policy and Public Affairs at the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), a position he has held since January 2006. In this capacity he leads and manages the staff of the Public Affairs; Policy, Legislative & Legal Affairs; Health Finance & Research; Hospital Business Initiatives; and, Patient Safety & Physician and Professional Issues units of the organization. He has been with the OHA since 2004 when he was orignally appointed Director of Public Affairs.
From 1995 to 2001, Anthony served as a political aide to Michael D. Harris, Ontario's 22nd Premier, as well as to Elizabeth Witmer in her capacities as Minister of Health and Long Term Care and Minister of Labour for the Government of Ontario. From 2001 to 2004, he was also a consultant at a leading Toronto-based public affairs consulting firm. From 2008 to 2011, Anthony was a part-time Governor-in-Council appointee of the Government of Canada to the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy.
Anthony holds a Master of Public Admnistration (1995) and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in political studies (1992), both from Queen's University. He has also completed the Accelerated Development Program (ADP) in General Management at London Business School.
Warren DiClemente, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Educational Services
Warren DiClemente currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Educational Services. He is a seasoned business manager who has integrated both theory and practice of lifelong and professional development in his personal life and career. Warren has a lengthy track record as a leader and entrepreneur, demonstrating expertise building internal teams and external partnerships. He has a history of corporate loyalty and a commitment to leadership and excellence.
Warren provides leadership and is accountable for the OHA's Educational Services and Operations Department, whose combined product line yields approximately $8 million in gross direct revenue and participation by 50,000 individuals per year. Key products include:
- HealthAchieve, the largest Health Care Show of its kind in North America
- Comprehensive schedule of one and two-day conferences
- The Governance Centre of Excellence (GCE) provides a broad range of relevant services and educational programs including online resources and tools for health care trustees
- Distance Learning (broadcasts and web based learning)
- OHA corporate marketing: including OHA brand strategy and marketing communications
- Private sector sponsorship and advertising
Warren chairs the OHA Operations Committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day internal operations of the OHA, ensuring all programs and initiatives operate effectively and within budget. The Committee also monitors progress of the Operating Plan, decisions relating to departmental budgets, external contracts, purchasing of goods and services, and internal human resource policies and decisions.
Warren also chairs the OHA's Staff Relations Committee. Comprised of staff members from each division, this committee provides advice to management on broad systemic issues that affect employees of the OHA. The committee fosters good, productive communications between the staff and management of the OHA, as well as promoting staff engagement.
Julie Giraldi, Chief Human Resources Officer & Vice President, Health Human Resources Leadership
Julie Giraldi is Chief Human Resources Officer & Vice President, Health Human Resources Leadership at the Ontario Hospital Assocation (OHA).
In this role, Julie oversees a large team of professionals that provides expert advice on health human resource matters to government and the health care community. In addition, her portfolio includes oversight to the OHA Sponsored Group Benefits Program, and Monarca, a third party short-term disability case management services. Lastly, Julie is also charged with leading the OHA's internal Human Resources function as well as the Information Technology systems. Her achievements include: the development of a Strategic Human Resources Plan for the OHA; overseeing the creation of the OHA's three-year Provincial Health Human Resources Strategy; and, expanding the OHA's human resources research and benchmarking capacity. She is also on the Board of Trustees of HOOPP (Healthcare Of Ontario Pension Plan).
With the support of her colleagues, Julie led the OHA's efforts to redefine its organizational culture and structure. This contributed to a 98 per cent staff engagement result, and to the OHA being recognized as one of the Greater Toronto Area's Top Employers in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and winning the presitigious "Top Places Where Employees Thrive Award" in 2009 and 2010. Most recently, the OHA was awarded as one of Canada's Best Workplaces for 2011 and 2012.
In September 2009, Julie was seconded to e-Health Ontario ,where she held the position of Acting Vice President, Human Resources for nine months. In her time at e-Health, Julie led the development of a strategic human resources plan for the organization, and launched several initiatives that have helped enabled e-Health Ontario to attract and retain talent.
Before joining the OHA, Julie was Dierctor, Systems and Procedures at the Toronto Transit Commission - the largest transit agency in Canada and the second largest in North America.
Julie holds a degree from the University of Toronto, and also holds a Senior Human Resources Professional Desgination from the Human Resources Professional Assocation.
Doug Miller, Chief Financial Officer
Doug Miller joined the OHA in January 2001 as Financial Controller. He assumed the current Chief Financial Officer role in March 2004. He provides leadership to OHA senior executive, internal staff, the Board and affiliated organizations in the development, formulation and execution of financial and administrative services, including financial planning and budgeting, reporting, and investment management.
Prior to joining OHA, he was Controller at Ontario Place for four years, and prior to that held a senior financial role at the Ontario Development Corporation for seven years. He is a desginated professional accountant with a career spanning more than 35 years in financial, adminstration and controllership roles in manufacturing, consumer products, mining, steel and aircraft companies.
His volunteer experience has included Treasurer and Board member of Big Brothers and Sisters of Ajax Pickering (1995-2012); Festival of Trees Committee for Rouge Valley Hospital - Ajax/Pickering site; Ajax Pickering United Way; and, the John Howard Society of Durham Region. He is currently on the Finance and Audit Committee and the Governance Committee at Middlesex Hospital Alliance, Strathroy.
