More OHA Accomplishments: 2010-2011

Canada’s Best Workplace for 2011 Award

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada for 2011.  This year’s list includes 100 organizations from across Canada, and the OHA was ranked 20th.

This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.  The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a survey open to all employees to complete; and the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This process offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Over 230 organizations participated in this year’s national competition, which equates to 43,500 employees across Canada being surveyed.

Employee Engagement at the OHA

In June 2011, through Towers Watson, the OHA conducted an Employee Engagement Survey.  Results of the survey indicate that the engagement level at the OHA is 98% (highly and moderately engaged). This level of engagement at the OHA continues to be higher than the external benchmarks of the Canadian national norm which is 77% (highly and moderately engaged).

The OHA is proud that its results have remained stable and consistent over the past several years.

First year OHA Strategic Indicator Results

The OHA's Strategic Plan: 2010-2013  includes a variety of strategic indicators that will be used by the OHA Board of Directors, OHA members, and others to measure our performance over a three-year time frame ending June 30, 2013.These eight indicators, with specific baselines and targets, were chosen after extensive research with health care experts and consultation with our membership. First year results were presented during the Annual Meeting of Members at HealthAchieve 2011, on Sunday, November 6.

Greater Toronto’s Top Employers 2011

For the second consecutive year, the OHA has been selected as one of the "Greater Toronto's Top Employers" for 2011.  This annual competition recognizes employers that lead in their industries by offering employees exceptional places to work.  Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition.  The evaluation criteria includes – physical workplace, work and social atmosphere, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time-off, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development and community involvement.  Employers are then compared to other organizations in their field to determine which ones offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

New CRM System

In June 2011, the OHA launched the corporate CRM (Customer Relationship Management system), a new member management system that replaced OHA Connect. CRM allows the OHA to track and maintain data on various organizations (member and non-member) as well as any associated contacts or individuals.  The new system will improve functionality and usability, and allow the OHA to track more detailed and relevant member information, so that we can serve members better.
